Banks Ghyll Kennels and Cattery

Lothersdale, England

Business Details

We are very proud of our kennels and our reputation which has been built up over the past 21 years. We have a loyal customer base, and have done little advertising over the years, preferring to accept word of mouth as the best recommendation. The majority of our bookings are returning customers.

We aim to give a good and consistent service and become very attached to the animals we board. Sadly, dogs and cats don’t live as long as we do, and inevitably we have had to say goodbye to many much-loved pets over the years, including our own.

For many years, we kept Irish Setters ourselves. They were all rescued, and some had major health problems. They were all real characters, known to all the customers if only for being opportunists ( Floyd will always be remembered for the meat pie he stole off the back seat of someone’s car!). In that time we became involved with the Irish Setter Breeders Club Rescue Scheme, and they have used our kennels over many years to board setters that need rehoming. I enjoyed, and still enjoy, being involved in rehoming and visiting prospective homes to check them out, or doing the handover to a new owner. We all like happy endings!
